Greetings all!
The theme for the 2023 Boyd's Station Dusk to Dusk 24-Hour Student Photojournalism Challenge is:
"Picking Up the Pieces"
The challenge for you as the photographer is to interpret the theme "Picking Up the Pieces" in both visuals and in words in your own style and means to tell the story you decide to explore and highlight.
Essays can be as straightforward in illustrating how people or places have struggled and endured following the covid pandemic national crisis, or how the effects of the stormy political climate and uncertain economic times have made a difference to the personality and way of life of this rural community.
Or none of the above, it is totally up to you to take the theme “Picking Up the Pieces” and decide on the story you want to tell, the way you want to tell it.
Just some other thoughts and ideas to consider: education today, health care, jobs, the agriculture industry today compared to five years ago, the loss of life or business, or that of aging and loss of population.
The theme is meant to be a basis of a story that you choose to interpret and tell in your own way with words and pictures to describe what the new normal is today for a single person, a business, or the community overall.
Again, be creative, be thoughtful, and be yourself!
Thoughts and conversations about this theme and challenge can be discussed with us at any time if you need help or inspiration.
