BOYD’S STATION AMERICA REIMAGINED PROJECT
The AMERICA REIMAGINED project gives voice to emerging photojournalists documenting dramatic changes in daily life across America – from grappling with a global pandemic to the fight for social justice – while creating a lasting archive of photographs and narratives.
A COLLABORATION ADDING TO THE HISTORICAL RECORD
AMERICA REIMAGINED, a curation and archival project aimed at showcasing the work of emerging photojournalists and preserving the images and narratives that offer an intimate look at the ways Americans are grappling with, and adjusting to, this disruptive moment in history. AMERICA REIMAGINED documents how life reacts and evolves with each new challenge – from the COVID-19 pandemic which pushed the country into its homes and social distancing to the fight for social justice which reunited millions in protest and solidarity in streets across the country.
AMERICA REIMAGINED is Boyd’s Station’s innovative effort to engage, motivate, mentor and give voice to emerging photojournalists documenting dramatic changes in daily life across America in 2020 and beyond. The project’s mission is to document a country in transition and record the next chapter of history.

HOW THE PROJECT STARTED
As COVID-19 spread across the nation in 2020 and social distancing became the norm, organizations were forced to make tough decisions about their events — and Boyd’s Station wasn’t immune.
Boyd’s Station had to cancel its signature events in 2020, the annual Boyd’s Station Reinke Grants for Visual Storytelling and Project 306.36. Scrubbing these immersive mentorship opportunities for young photographers was heartbreaking, but as all photojournalists know, when the story changes, you follow it.
This national photographic project — AMERICA REIMAGINED — offers an intimate look at how the nation and its people are coping during these historic moments since the first COVID-19 cases were reported in early 2020 while living in this time of uncertainty.
SPONSORS
This project in partnership with American Reportage would not be possible without the generous support from PhotoShelter, the official provider of Boyd’s Station and America Reportage archive systems – powered by PhotoShelter for Brands.
