ED REINKE

Ed Reinke, an award-winning Associated Press photographer and mentor to countless photojournalists over the years, died in 2011 following an injury he suffered while covering the IndyCar race at Kentucky Speedway in Sparta, KY.

The Boyd’s Station Reinke Grant for Visual Storytelling is awarded annually to an emerging photojournalist in honor of the memory of Ed Reinke and all of his contributions to photojournalism.

TIM DILLON

Tim was a career photojournalist known for his kind and generous spirit. Much of his career was spent at USA TODAY where he covered the White House, Congress, and wherever else his editors sent him.

The annual Dillon Grant will be awarded to a student to participate in a 12-week intensive visual documentary program taking part in the Boyd’s Station Project 306.36 documentary program to photograph the people and culture of Harrison County, Kentucky while benefiting from world-class mentoring in conjunction with the Reinke Grant for Visual Storytelling and the Mary Withers Rural Writing Fellowship.


THE FINE PRINT

  • All Reinke and Dillon Grant for Visual Storytelling applications must be submitted on or before the application deadline of Monday, January 6, 2025.

  • Provide one single URL to the specific work on which your application is based. Include up to 15 MAXIMUM examples of your creative works.

  • Please provide a link to your resume in either PDF or WORD format.

  • Candidates are reviewed and recommended by the Boyd's Station Project 306.36 selection committee. Finalists will be contacted and interviewed by Boyd’s Station. The finalists may be asked to submit additional work before the final announcement of the grant recipient in February 2025.

  • Applicants must be 21 years of age or older during the grant period. NOTE: Students 20 years of age are encouraged to apply as long as the student will be 21 during the grant period in 2025.
