ANGELICA YUDASTO
PRATT INSTITUTE, BROOKLYN, NYC
My time at the Boyd’s Station PLACE & SPACE residency program really allowed me to delve deeper into my practice without any interruptions and I found peace within the countryside.
I was able to focus on my sculptural installations without having to worry about the commute in the city the way it is living in Brooklyn. Nor did I have to worry about time. I had full agency and it changed the way I wanted the new direction of my work to go.
Moments like this are very crucial, especially for young aspiring artists. It’s important to build connections and be in constant stimulation in order to keep your art practice always dynamic.
I’m beyond grateful for the experience at Boyd’s Station and I am excited to exhibit this work based on my time at Boyd’s Station in a three-part solo show at the Ki Smith Gallery in New York City.
Angelica Yudasto, a 2020 Boyd’s Station PLACE & SPACE creative resident, created works dealing with modes of self reflection and body identity. Using glass and silk fabrics, which naturally lends itself to precarity and vulnerability, Yudasto wanted the material to go beyond its naturally seductive medium.
